Wainwright Aiming for 12th Win of Season When Pirates Visit St. Louis

St. Louis and Pittsburgh play game one of an important four-game series on Monday night when Adam Wainwright and Charlie Morton face each other. Both teams are chasing the first-place Brewers, who welcome the last-place Phillies this week for four games. Pittsburgh is 4.5 games out of first and St. Louis is five games out of first in the Central. We are going to back Wainwright and the Cardinals at home tonight.

Wainwright looks to lower his miniscule ERA

When Adam Wainwright takes the mound in the top of the first inning tonight, he will begin the game with an impressive ERA of 1.89. With such a low ERA, it is incredible to see that he has four losses this season. Against those four losses he does have 11 wins. He has allowed just 26 runs this season, with 13 of them coming in two games. He has not permitted a run in eight of his starts.

Morton’s impressive ERA has not led to many wins

On the other side of the field, Charlie Morton is having an impressive season when you look at his ERA. When you view his record, things do not look that good. Morton is just 5-9 with an ERA of 3.30. Morton held the Diamondbacks to one run in six innings his last time out, which ended a personal two-game losing streak. He will need to be equally effective tonight in order to take down the Cardinals.

When it comes to divisional games, it doesn’t get much better than the Cardinals and the Pirates. With these teams needing wins to keep pace in the Central, we place our bets at TopBet.eu tonight. Since Wainwright is taking the mound, there is no way we will bet against St. Louis. This is why we will drop 20 percent of our bankroll on the Cardinals and the -162 money line.
