Predictions – 2011 NBA All Star Game – Prop Betting

Predictions – 2011 NBA All Star Game – Prop Betting: The NBA All Star celebration takes center court this weekend as the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, is set to host the brightest stars in the game today.

In addition to the game itself, hoop fans will also be treated to the Rookie Challenge, a Skills Competition, the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and the thrilling Slam Dunk competition. The celebration of round ball heats up on Friday night and goes all weekend  long.

It all leads up to the tip-off of the big game itself on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 8:00 PM ET.

NBA All Star Game – Slam Dunk Contest – Odds to Win

SportsInteraction.com is all over the 2011 NBA All Star action with prop betting being offered on events throughout weekend. The Slam Dunk competition is one of the highlights every year as a select group of players try to out style each other with high flying, acrobatic, slam dunk stunts!

As you can see by the odds below, Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffins is the runaway odds on leader to win the competition this year. In addition to participating in the Slam Dunk Competition, Griffins will also be on the floor during the actual All Star Game on Sunday. He is the first rookie to be selected, by the coaching staff, to play in the game since Tim Duncan received the same honor back in 1998.

NBA 1010 Slam Dunk Prop Odds

Slam Dunk Contest Prediction: After residing in the NBA Eastern Conference for the last seven years, the 2011 Slam Dunk Championship Award will call the Western Conference home for the first time since 2003.

After watching some tape, and because he is playing on his home court, it’s hard to bet against Griffin here. If he even comes close to some of the acrobatics we have seen on film, the home town favorite is a lock to win the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk competition.

Prop Betting – NBA 2011 All Star Game  – Three Point Shootout

Take the top sharp shooters in the NBA, have them pepper the glass from three point land, and you have the exciting NBA Three Point Shootout. We love this competition during the NBA All Star Weekend festivities because it is man against hoop and whoever drains the most shots from beyond the arc is the winner. No amount of style points, or outside judges, will determine the victor here.

The cast of combatants for the 2011 event includes the Celtics Ray Allen (121) who leads the NBA with a .457  three point shooting percentage this season. Oh, he also has the most 3-pointers in NBA history having drained 2565 shots from outside the perimeter in his career. The Warriors Dorell Wright, who leads the league this season with 135 baskets from the land beyond, James Jones from the Heat (93), Kevin Durrant of the Thunder (91) and the Caveliers Daniel Gibson (83) will also be vying for the title.

They will all be up against the defending 3-point shootout 2010 Champion, Paul Pierce from the Celtics. Pierce ranks tied for 12th on the NBA all time 3-point list. Jason Kapono went back to back in 2006-2007 so, even though his 2011 three point total is down (75 of 195), Pierce has a chance to repeat – though remote in our mind.

NBA 2011 All Star Game Three Point Shootout Odds

NBA All Star 3-Point Shootout Prediction: While it’s hard to argue against the “King of Shooting from Downtown”, we are going to stray away from the odds leader Ray Allen (+200) and take some value with Dorell Wright and his +350 prop odds. His mother nicknamed him “D3” for a reason and we think he will do it the “D. Wright Way” to take down the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Championship title.
