NHL Puck Betting Free Pick: Senators vs Penguins

A quiet Friday Night on the sports betting big board is the calm before the weekend online wagering storm.

The 2011-12 NCAA College Football Bowl Season kicks off on Saturday, we get a rare Saturday Night NFL treat, and then a full slate of NFL action on Sunday. Tonight we feature the Pittsburgh Penguins waddling north to face the Ottawa Senators.

Penguins @ Senators: NHL Puck Drop Preview

NHL Puck Betting action hits the ice at 7:30 PM ET, from Scotiabank Place, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on Friday, December 16, 2011. Both teams are hurting – one has the troops to cover their loses.

Pittsburgh (17-10-4) sits fifth overall in the NHL Eastern Conference. Just eight games into his comeback, the Penguins lost Sidney Crosby, to concussion-like syndromes again last week. The ‘Pens have slumped recently as they are 1-3-0 without Sid The Kid and just 5-4-1 in their last ten.

Ottawa (14-14-2) had gotten up of the mat, after they started the NHL 2011-12 campaign with an 0-5-1 record as they ripped off six straight wins. It’s been fairly rough for the Senators since then though as they are 2-3-2 in December and 4-4-2 in their last ten outings

Pittsburgh vs. Ottawa: Friday Night NHL Puck Betting Lines

We wanted some early line action on this game so we headed to “Where The Line Originates” and the sportsbook at BookMaker.com for our Pittsburgh vs. Ottawa NHL Puck Betting Lines.

NHL 2011 Betting Odds Penguins vs Senators

Both teams are missing their top scorer to head injuries – which are threatening to douse the NHL fire on ice experience. Along with Crosby being out for the ‘Pens, the Senators will be without their top player, and co-NHL goal scoring leader, Milan Michalek. Expect F Daniel Alfredsson and F Jason Spezza to struggle without Michalek. A 3.4 goals against average (30th) hurts Ottawa as well.

While the absence of Crosby is huge to the Penguins, losing Michalek and his team leading 19 goals puts the Senators in a deep hole. Pittsburg should be over the shock of losing their Captain and has players that will step up to will fill the scoring void. The same can’t be said for Ottawa.
