NFC North Betting Lines: Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings

One can imagine that online bookmakers, along with the crew in Las Vegas, are felling pretty smug after the Broncos covered the huge eight point spread against the Super Bowl Champion Ravens on Thursday night. We were in the crowd that bit on that generous line and today we look to get it back by prowling with the Cats. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM ET from fabulous Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, on September 8, 2013.

Detroit Lions: Hope springs eternal in the Motor City

Do you remember when the cost of gas was 24 cents a gallon? If you do, you probably remember the last time that Detroit won a football championship – way back in 1957. Hope springs eternal in Motown as the Lions enter the 2013 NFL with one of the most promising squads they have had in years. The addition of pass catching running back Reggie Bush, who will team up with promising rising star Joique Bell in the backfield, is part of the reason for the optimism in Detroit.

Minnesota Vikings: Open with stiff test versus potent Cats offense

In addition to a promising backfield, the Lions also have gunslinger quarterback Matthew Stafford and All-World wide receiver Calvin Jonson and that’s the making of a very powerful NFL offense. The Vikings have an All-World player of their own as they trot out Adrian Peterson who is the best running back in the game today. Unfortunately for Minnesota fans, their offense basically begins and ends with Purple Jesus as QB Christian Ponder is still a work in progress for the Vikings.

Lions vs. Vikings Betting Lines & Sportsbook Review Game Day Prediction

Bookmakers at the bovada.lv sportsbook must be buying into the Lions resurgence as well as they have posted Detroit as home chalk at -5 (-110) against the spread and -235 on the money line. The Vikings sail into the Motor City as road pups at -5 (-110) ATS and +195 S/U while the Over/Under is set at 47 total points. The great people of Detroit need something to cheer about and we see the Lions delivering today. We’ll parlay the Cats with the -235 ML and OVER 47 points!
