Cowboys vs. Giants: NFC East Game Day Preview

Dallas (7-5 Home: 5-1) is precariously perched atop the NFC East division with a one game lead over the Giants. Two of the Cowboys (4-7-1 ATS) final three contest are on the road.

New York (6-6 Road: 3-3) has lost four straight but, with a win here, the Giants will take the NFC East Division lead – from the Cowboys. The G-Men (5-6-1 ATS) are 2-0 at new Cowboys Stadium.

This is the first of two meetings between these long-time rivals during the 2011 NFL season. The second contest will be played during Week 17 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. Neither team can clinch anything, from a playoff perspective, but the winner will be in the drivers seat.

NFL Football Betting Lines: New York vs. Dallas Free Pick

BookMaker.com supplies the betting lines for tonight’s Giants @ Cowboys Free Pick. Playoff lives are on the line in this pressure packed NFL regular season game. Dating back to the 2008 NFL season, New York has owned the Cowboys as the Giants have won and covered six of the last eight games.

Dallas won the last match-up (33-20) in New York during Week 10 last season. That was the head coaching debut of Cowboys current coach Jason Garret. John Kitna, not QB Tony Romo, was under center for Dallas in that contest. Three turnovers (one was a Pick-6) cost the Giants in the loss.

Statistically speaking, Dallas has a slight edge as the Cowboys average 23.6 PPG while allowing 20.3 PPG. The Giants are scoring at a 23.9 PPG clip, while their defense allows 26.2 PPG. The return of RB Brandon Jacobs is huge as the Giants can use their full playbook with him and RB Ahmad Bradshaw.

We have been on the fence over this contest since we first looked at it on Monday. The G-Men have simply stunk in their last two prime time appearances. New York lost to the Eagles at home, and got blown out of New Orleans. The Cowboys just lost to the Cardinals. The ‘Boys haven’t won a game, against a team that’s .500 or better, since Week 2 when they miraculously beat the 49ers.

Neither of these teams will ever make our Christmas card list – we hate them both equally! When they’ve made it into our NFL Free Picks this season, we are 2-2 with the Giants, and 3-3 on the Cowboys. After exhaustive research – our calculations call for a close, yet high scoring, contest here.
