New Sportsbook Review: TopBet.com to Fill US Online Sports Betting Void

OPENING SOON: TopBet.com announces plans to enter the US sports betting marketplace, as one of many indications that the dust is settling on an otherwise chaotic time for the online sports gambling industry in the United States. Indication of better things to come?

State of US Economy Analagous to Online Sports Betting in US?

In a downtrodden economy like the one we are all living in here in the United States, there’s nothing quite like seeing growth in sectors such as real-estate and jobs to reinvigorate our confidence that everything will be A-OK. After all, we are creatures of habit and all we’re really looking for are clear reasons to go about our daily lives as we used to without having to go to sleep at night concerned that we might be woken up by the sounds of our nation coming down on top of us.

Ok, so perhaps our use of the US economy as an analogy for the current state of affairs in the online sports betting industry isn’t fair, but we actually do feel there are some pretty significant parallels between the two, most important of which is the fact that in both cases, things went from being just peachy to pretty damn ugly, in a flash.

Earlier this year, in May, the online sports betting space for US players changed dramatically when the US Department of Justice delivered a major blow to the entire online gambling industry, now affectionately dubbed the events of Black Friday and Blue Monday.

What started as a seemingly isolated incident – initially affecting only big name poker brands such as Poker Stars, Full Tilt, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker – eventually revealed itself to be a much more widespread and concerted effort by the USDOJ to deal a devastating blow to dozens of other sites offering online sports betting, casino and poker services to Americans.

Notable sports betting brands which were forced to stop accepting bets from US based bettors are BetUS, Sportsbook.com and Sports Interaction, to name a few. Many other brands such as Bodog, Bookmaker and BetDSI were forced to  move their websites to new domain names in an effort to preempt any leftover or potentially looming strikes by the USDOJ. Some brands, such as BetED.com, were forced to close shop entirely and are now facing a host of legal woes, not to mention thousands of angry players whom they left high and dry, without even the slightest indication as to whether they could expect to see their account balances ever again.

If you can bring yourself to believe it, the above listed incidents are truly just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the current state of the US-facing online gambling industry.

But in the wake of all this chaos – otherwise known as the perpetual game of cat and mouse between self-regulated offshore online gambling companies and the vicious USDOJ – rays of light have emerged from the dark skies, sounds of birds chirping can be heard in the trees and alas, the first blade of new grass has broken soil.

TopBet.com Sportsbook Review

Not only do concerns of an NFL lockout seem to be a thing of the past, news has emerged that a new sportsbook, TopBet.com will fill the US online sports betting void and accept bets from US players, right on time for the beginning of a highly anticipated Pro Football season. And just because we’re so diligent in our effort to keep our loyal visitors informed, we’ve already gone ahead and written a TopBet.com Review for you. IT should be noted, however, that TopBet.com has not opened its doors yet and cannot accept players yet, so be patient!

For now, the dust seems to have settled for an industry that is no stranger to tumultuous times and sportsbook review sites such as ours are all too happy to continue recommending nothing but the best brands currently available to US-based sports bettors, while always keeping you in the loop on which ones to avoid.

So for all of us creatures of habit, we can rest a bit easier tonight knowing that when it comes time to make our seasonal deposit into our betting account this August, things will in fact be…    …A-OK.
