Minnesota Wild Looking to Keep Vancouver Canucks from Playoffs

The Western Conference already has three teams in the playoffs and the Wild are hoping to become another one very soon. As they work their way towards the post-season, the Wild hope to keep the Vancouver Canucks out of the playoffs in the West at the same time. These two teams are heated conference rivals as we like the Wild at home with the win.

Minnesota closing in on a playoff spot

Even though Minnesota sits in the seventh spot in the Western Conference standings, the Wild have yet to secure a berth in the playoffs. There are still a handful of teams chasing them in the conference, but it looks as though the Wild will be able to hold strong and find a way into the playoffs. They will need to turn things around though, having played to a 3-3-4 record in their last 10 games.

Canucks holding onto very little hope

Vancouver has not been eliminated from playoff contention yet, but they are running out of time. The Canucks have just nine games left on their schedule, which means they need to record a string of wins to grab as many points as possible. They are six points behind the Phoenix Coyotes for the final spot in the West standings and would have to jump over the Dallas Stars to make a move as well. Despite winning two straight, the Canucks are still on the outside looking in right now.

Oddsmakers from BetOnline.ag have the Wild as home chalk over the Canucks on Wednesday night with a line of -1.5 (+185). This could turn out to be a very exciting contest, especially if both teams play to their potential, but we still see Minnesota winning this game. We will lay the line with 10 percent of our bankroll for the Wild as they move closer to a playoff spot.
