Marlins Try for Six Straight in Game Two of Series with Nationals

Two National League East rivals will collide for the second game of their three-game set on Tuesday night when the Nationals host the Marlins in D.C. Miami won the opener of this series on Monday, their fifth straight win. The Marlins are now just six games out of first in the NL East and the Nationals hold a half-game lead at the top of the division. We like Miami in this contest tonight.

Miami sends Henderson Alvarez to the mound

Henderson Alvarez, who has become the de facto ace of the Marlins rotation after Jose Fernandez went down with Tommy John surgery earlier this season. Alvarez has been nothing short of phenomenal for the Marlins with a record of 7-5 and an ERA of 2.62. He went eight innings in his previous start, which came against the Braves. He allowed just two runs in that contest. Miami is 8-2 in their last 10 games played.

Nationals send their own ace to the hill tonight

Washington will counter with their ace, Stephen Strasburg, on Tuesday night. Strasburg is just 7-8 this year with an ERA of 3.67. He has struggled mightily against the Marlins this season, posting a record of 1-1 and an ugly ERA of 5.91 in two starts. Across those two starts, Strasburg has lasted just 10.2 innings total. Strasburg will need a lot of run support to take down the Marlins tonight.

When the Marlins and the Nationals meet for an NL East contest Tuesday night we will go with the betting odds found at Sportsbook.ag. Here, the Marlins are underdogs at home. Despite this, we will place a bet on the Marlins and Alvarez with the UNDER seven total runs scored at -110 with 10 percent of our bankroll. Enjoy this contest, as it should be an exciting one with two superb pitchers facing each other in D.C.
