Mariners Inching Closer to a Wild Card Spot as White Sox Come to Town

Seattle and Chicago will open a four-game series on Thursday night at Safeco Field as the Mariners inch closer to a Wild Card spot in the American League. They have won two straight games and are just one game out of the second spot. They would have to jump three teams to move into that spot though. We are going to back the Mariners at home tonight in the series opener as they take down the White Sox.

Mariners send Roenis Elias to the mound

Elias has been solid for Seattle this year, pitching to a record of 8-9 and an ERA of 4.19. Since the All-Star break, Elias has been nearly unhittable, going 1-1 with an ERA of 1.69 in three starts. The last time he faced the White Sox was on July 4. He allowed five runs in five innings pitched to take the loss. He will look to rebound from that start on Thursday night at home. Seattle swept Atlanta in a two-game series this week.

White Sox counter with righty Scott Carroll

Carroll has not been effective as a starter this season for the White Sox, pitching to an ERA of 5.10 as a member of the rotation. Overall, he has a record of 4-6 with an ERA of 4.36 this season. Chicago is 8.5 games out of first in the AL Central and five games under the .500 mark this year. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez is red-hot right now, hitting .381 in his last 15 games with 14 RBIs. He has shown no signs of slowing down of late either.

On Thursday night when the White Sox visit the Mariners, we will place our bet at SportsBetting.ag. At this online sportsbook, the Mariners are home chalk to win this game. We will bet 15 percent of our bankroll on Seattle and the -180 money line as they take home the series opener against Chicago at home.
