Chicago Bears 2010 Preview – Championship Odds

The Chicago Bears are now three seasons removed from their Super Bowl XLI defeat to the Indianapolis Colts. In those three seasons the Bears have fallen on tough times and have posted a 23-25 combined record.

The Bears are hoping the second season will be the charm for QB Jay Cutler as Chicago mortgaged the farm to get him from the Denver Broncos two years ago. Cutler has a new offensive coordinator in Mike Martz who could help him win the NFL MVP Award at 30/1 odds. Cutler has a strong suppoting cast on offense but we wonder how good the Bears will be on defense.

Bears 2010 Offense

In addition to Cutler, the Bears 2010 offense is loaded with young talent. Chicago is counting on third year running back Matt Forte to bounce back from a disastrous 2009 NFL season. Forte is a key player if the  Bears are to win more games than their posted 7.5 win total (over -213 / under +145) during the 2010 NFL season.

With Devin Hester, Johnny Knox, Devin Aromashodu and Rashied Davis, the Bears have one of the fastest receiving cores in the NFL. We expect a breakout year from Knox and that will help the Bears compete for the NFC North Title.

The tight end  is primarily used as a blocker in the Mike Martz offense so we don’t see a big year out of TE Greg Olsen. Strong and steady Robbie Gould enters the 2010 season as the unchallenged place kicker in Chicago.

Bears 2010 Championship Odds

Chicago has the talent to challenge in the NFC and the Bears come with profitable odds of +1300 to win the NFC Championship. This is the most talent Mike Martz has coached since he guided the “Greatest Show On Turf” in St. Louis back in the 2003 NFL season.

Bears Super Bowl XLV Odds

The Bears will do what it takes to claw their way back to the Super Bowl. They would love to prove the odds makers wrong who have the Bears odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl XLV posted at 30/1 at most online sports books.
