Cardinals Go For Nine Straight Over Nationals on Friday Night in D.C.

Michael Wacha is picking up where he left off in last year’s post-season. He has a 2-0 record with a 1.89 ERA to start the season. He will look to secure the Cardinals ninth straight win over the Nationals when the two teams meet on Friday night at Nationals Park for game two of this four-game set. We will back the Cardinals on the road for a second straight win.

Cardinals looking to continue dominance of Nats

St. Louis has won eight straight games against the Nationals with their win in game-one of this series on Thursday night. It was an utter rout, an 8-0 win in which Adam Wainwright allowed just two hits. Overall, St. Louis has won 11 of the last 13 games against Washington, including the five games in the 2012 NL Division Series. The Cardinals have won five of their last six games played this season.

Nationals trying to regain their form

Washington has dropped five of their last seven games and send Gio Gonzalez to the mound in hopes of ending their losing streak to the Cardinals tonight. Gonzalez was hit around the last time he took the ball, a 10-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves. He allowed six runs on nine hits, two of them home runs. The last time he faced St. Louis at home in the regular season was in August of 2012. It was a 10-0 Nationals win that day.

Even though the Nationals are home chalk over at BetOnline.ag, we like the visiting Cardinals to grab the win tonight. St. Louis has enjoyed a good stretch of offense recently, which is why we will bet 15 percent of our bankroll on the Cardinals and the OVER 7 total runs scored at +120 as they extend their win streak against the Nationals to nine games. Can the Nationals end this streak? We don’t think so, not even with Gonzalez on the hill.
