CFL 2012: Eastern Conference Predicted Order Of Finish

With the 2012 NCAA football season still 68 days away, and the NFL rolling out another seven days later, pro football handicappers can make some early season pigskin betting cash with the launch of the 2012 Canadian Football League season on June 29, 2012.

Today we look at the Eastern Conference to separate the pretenders from contenders as the road to the 100th Grey Cup Championship begins in Hamilton.

Tiger-Cats Top Betting Favorite To Capture The East

After a 2011-12 CFL off-season that saw quarterbacks swapped across the league, there’s an unfamiliar favorite in the Eastern Conference playoff chase. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats bringing QB Henry Burris to the Steel City has made them the top favorites to win the Eastern Conference with a +175 betting line. Burris, who spent the past seven years with the Calgary Stampeders, enters his 13th CFL season and the 15th of his pro career – including a 2001-02 stint in the NFL.

Bottom Three Eastern Conference Clubs Are Tightly Bunched

Montreal, who won two straight Grey Cups prior to the 2011 season, and have played in eight of the last 12 National Championships, are the second chalk with a +225 wagering line. 2011 Grey Cup runner-up Winnipeg, along with Toronto, is tied as the the third favorite to capture the East with a +350 wagering line at the online sportsbook. The Argonauts were also active in the CFL QB free agent frenzy as they brought QB Ricky Ray over from the Edmonton Eskimos.

CFL 2012: Eastern Conference Predicted Order Of Finish:

1 – Winnipeg Blue Bombers – Based on Defense
2 – Hamilton Tiger-Cats – Addition of Burris
3 – Toronto Argonauts – Addition of Ray
4 – Montreal Alouettes – Age of Calvillo
