This NHL puck betting action has its puck drop slated for 7:30 PM ET on Friday, November 11, 2011, from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Capitals vs. Devils: National Hockey League Preview

As mentioned, Washington (9-4-0) has dropped two straight games and they have looked like donkeys in doing so. The Capitals busted out of the gates with a 7-0 to start the 2011-12 NHL season, but have dropped four of their last six games.

That streak includes a pair of back-to-back lackluster efforts against the New York Islanders (5-3) and the Dallas Stars who defeated them 5-2 back on Tuesday night. We see the Capitals getting back to their winning ways tonight.

New Jersey  (7-5-1) is on a mini three game winning streak that has seen them defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in a shootout, the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in overtime, and score a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

This test tonight is a different story as the Capitals are one of the highest scoring teams in the league, while the Devils simply are not. Washington have tallied 50 goals, during the young NHL season, to just 33 for New Jersey.

NHL Puck Betting Lines: Capitals @ Devils Free Pick

As is always the case, we love getting a plus line when we see a contest that matches two teams of vastly different degrees of talent. That’s the betting situation here as the BetOnline Sportsbook NHL 3 Way line has the Capitals as surprisingly slight favorites over the Devils.

NHL Betting Lines Capitals vs Devils

While we admit to being a little leery of this generous line, we are going to take the better of the two teams here. Washington has won four of the last five meetings against New Jersey by a combined 19-9 count.

The Capitals own a +12 goals differential (50-38) while the Devils are a -3 (33-36) as we near the quarter pole of the NHL season. We will cruise with the Caps in this one!
