Greatest NBA BAsketball Centers to Ever Play the Game

You can’t make a list of the top 5 greatest NBA Centers to ever play the game without stepping on a few toes or getting punched in the face. Everyone has an opinion, some more ridiculous than others.

When creating a top 5 list such as this one you have to take into consideration that a lot of things have changed in the NBA, all the way from new rule changes to different coaching styles. A dominant player from the 1960’s would most likely be shutdown by a bench player in the 2010’s.

Best NBA Basketball Centers

While making the below list we have attempted to cover all determining factors; teammates, opponents, coaches, length of shorts and length of career.

Without further ado here is our list of the top 5 NBA Centers of all time in descending orde.

5) Hakeem Olajuwon – Barely spoke a word of English but led the Houston Rockets to an NBA Championship.

4) Yao Ming – The tallest man to come out of China can shoot, pass, defend and make jokes. If it wasn’t for an injury plagued career, Yao Mingo would have gotten a lot more recognition than he currently gets.

3) Bill Russell – Bill recently had the NBA name the MVP award after him because of his commitment to the game and athletic ability.

2) Shaquille O’Neal – Came into the league bringing down hoops after thunderous slam dunks. It was because of O’Neal that the NBA started fining players who shattered the glass after slam dunks.

1) Wilt Chamberlain – Chamberlain was both a player on and off the court and now has a grandchild in every state and outlaying U.S. islands. Nobody has yet to beat Chamberlain’s record of scoring 100 points in 1 game.
