National League Championship Series: Updated Betting Odds

Today we look at the updated online betting prices to win the Major League Baseball 2013 National League Championship. Back at the end of March, the Dodgers and Nationals were top chalk – not any more though.

Heading into MLB action on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, there are two new favorites to win the NLCS at the TopBet online wagering website. The Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals have taken on top chalk status.

April NLCS top chalk is just dust at the MLB halfway point

Turning back the clock, to check the MLB preseason NCLS futures odds, we find that Washington and Los Angeles are not living up to their lofty favorite lines posted back in March. The Nationals and Dodgers, who opened the 2013 MLB season as +350 co-favorites to win the National League pennant, are currently sitting six and 3.5 games behind the leaders in the NL East and NL West respectively. While both clubs are still in the thick of the playoff race, their odds have gotten a lot longer as the Nats are now posted at +800 while the Dodgers new price is +1000 at TopBet.

Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals now share the NLCS favorite perch

After a torrid starts to the season by both clubs, the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals are the new favorites to win the 2013 NLCS title. The Braves price has gone from +600 to +300 while the Cardinals have dropped from +900 odds to that same +300 price. San Francisco, the World Series Champions in 2012, have seen their price double from +600 in April to +1200 in July. We love that our preseason suggested long shot, the Pittsburgh Pirates, are two games up on the Cardinals in the NL Central. The Bucs had a +2400 line back in April but have dropped to a +700 price in July.
