MLB Schedule 2012: Cactus League Play

Say hey Willie, the Boys of Summer are back and spring is in the air! Cactus League spring training games hit the ground running as 15 Major League Baseball clubs are calling Arizona home during March.

Ten ballparks, from Mesa to Tempe to Surprise, Arizona, will host the pros of MLB at stadiums such as Camelback Ranch, Hohokam Stadium, and the historic Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

Baseballs Best Converge On Arizona

Pro baseball has called Arizona home for spring training since 1947. The elite of the game have all honed their skills for the upcoming season in this desert oasis. Players like Ty Cobb, Mickey Mantle, and Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio, each played at least one season of spring training in Arizona.

Willie Mays also fine tuned in the desert and he registered the first home run in Phoenix Municipal Stadium – as did Reggie Jackson, who was the first college player to homer in the stadium.
