2010 MLB National League Playoffs

The 2010 MLB National League Playoffs are only a couple of months away, and who will be playing in October is still undecided at this point. We had some front runners earlier this season which have since fizzled out, and some newcomers who are playing with something to prove.

Whether you have been following along all year, or you are just jumping aboard the MLB NL Playoff train now, it’s time to bring you up to speed with what is happening in the MLB National League playoff race.

Only 4 out of the 15 teams in the National League will make the grade and below is a quick review of which teams we think will clinch their division and make the playoffs.

National League Central Division

The St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds have been battling it out all season. Just when the Cardinals thought the Reds hot streak was about to die down, they surprise everyone with another win. The Cardinals and Reds will face each other 3 more times in September where the Cardinals need to win if they want to clinch the NL Central Division.

National League East Division

In the NL East we have the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies in a seesaw battle over top spot. Pay close attention to this battle as the Braves and Phillies face each other another 6 more times before the playoffs start; 3 games in Philadelphia and then 3 games in Atlanta.

National League West Division

The NL West Division is also heating up with the San Diego Padres surprising everyone. Where last year the Padres finished 4th in the NL West Division, this year the Padres are on their way to becoming the first NL team to clinch its division. Trying to catch up to the Padres are the San Francisco Giants who have struggled with their pitching since the All-Star break.

There you have it folks, we have some staples and some surprises vying for their respective division title and the NL Championship title. The MLB Playoffs are just around the corner, time to get your game on!
